  1. Well put. Eternity. She was great.

  2. What's you're favorite Elizabeth Taylor film, MWB?

  3. The Flintstones, hands down. A really great cinematic gem (nahuuught).
I'm ashamed to say that I have seen surprisingly few of her movies. It seems like I have seen more than I actually have. I did think "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" was captivating. I might have liked her more in "Giant" if she weren't so upstaged by James Dean (whose movies, just for the record, I have seen all of).

  4. You've seen Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, of course, right?

  5. Oh, it's been ages. I put it at the top of the queue this morning when I was hit with the first wave of Taylor nostalgia. That will be one to review.

  6. Some of the best lines ever said are in that movie. If an alien race ever came to earth and said, "yeah, but do you have acerbic wit?" I'd plop their green asses in front of that movie.

In contrast, I'm about to re-watch and review a movie I absolutely hated. I've decided that I can't review movies the way you do (seriously), so I've gotta stick to garbage.

  7. Ha! I'd stick those aesthetically conscious aliens in front of your blog if they wanted to get a whiff of some good ole' acerbic wit! Can't review movies like me indeed!
What movie was it????????? I'm dying to know! It can't possibly be worse than the room... unless it was directed by Ed Wood or a sandwich.

  8. It's in a completely different category. Some perfectly normal people actually liked this movie - some have called it their "favorite". If you had a dedicated MWB e-mail address, I might tell you what it was.

  9. The amazing thing is, she was only about 33 when she made Virginia Woolf. Modern actresses would make a fetish of the excess weight they had to put on (and then remove damn quick) or the prosthetic makeup they had to endure. She just aged, like normal people do. But she still managed to transcend the normal in a way that Kidman and Theron and Zellweger et al can't do. Sleep tight, Violet Eyes.
